Our Story

The LabJam platform is underpinned by research and expertise from the Science Foundation Ireland (Grant 07/CE/I1142) as part of the Centre for Next Generation Localisation (www.cngl.ie) at Dublin City University.

The Team

Steve Gotz currently serves as Commercial Development Manager at CNGL where he is responsible for acceleration of spin-out opportunities arising from research activities within the Centre. Steve has over 12 years of experience commercialising technology and service offerings in large corporate intrapreneurial environments (AT&T Labs), academic laboratories as well as small entrepreneurial ventures. He has a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences from Binghamton University and an MBA from the University of Oxford with a concentration in Technology & Innovation Strategy.

Dr. Johannes Leveling is a research scientist with CNGL where he focuses on adaptive information retrieval, relevance feedback and query reformulation in digital content management. Previously Johannes co-founded SEMPRIA GmbH, a software company which specializes in semantic information access and semantically-oriented search engines. He obtained a doctorate from the University of Hagen (FernUniversität in Hagen) in 2006. His thesis on natural language interfaces to information providers on the Internet earned him the award of Next Generation Scientist at the FernUniversität in Hagen. He has published more than 40 refereed scientific papers and has been a reviewer for journals and conferences, including ECIR, LREC, and CIKM.

John McAuley is a community and data visualization researcher in the Knowledge and Data Engineering Group, Trinity College, Dublin. John has over ten years web development experience, working on both academic and commercial projects. He is currently pursuing a PhD as part of the SFI funded CNGL. He has a Masters from Dublin Institute of Technology, with a specialization in capturing community knowledge via formal ontologies, and a Bachelors degree from University of Limerick.

Joris Vreeke has over 10 years of experience as a web and graphic designer. He has worked on projects across three continents for a diverse range of clients including Universities to Telcos to Utilities to Consulting to Arts and everything in between. In addition to his design skills Joris has extensive experience engineering and developing solutions for large-scale system integrations and payment processing solutions.
